Passage View Motel
The Passage View Motel is the best oceanfront motel accommodations in Campbell River. The motel is located on Central Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. Each of our 30 rooms offer a spectacular, unobstructed view of the Discovery Passage, Quadra Island and the snow-capped Coastal Mountains. With no highway between the motel and the ocean, you have a breathtaking view of the passage, no matter which of our three floors you stay on. The ground floor is complete with patio, deck chairs and picnic tables. If you stay on the second or third floors, you can relax on your own private balcony while watching and listening to the sights and sounds of the ocean. Enjoy your morning coffee while observing Bald Eagles, Red Tail Hawks, Blue Herons and other marine birds patrol the skies and beaches. You may be lucky enough to get a glimpse of seals, sea lions or even a pod of Orcas.
Get an up close and personal view of the activity in the Discovery Passage. Guests have private beach access available to them. Take a stroll on the rocky beach, or play on the sandbar when the tide goes out. The private beach area is perfect for collecting shells, picture taking, meditating, bird watching or whatever floats your boat (pun intended).
A favourite activity of many of our guests is Cruise Ship Spotting. See the great ships cruise by, lighting up the night. It’s quite a sight! A schedule of cruise ships that sail the Passage, traveling from Vancouver to Alaska, May through September, is posted in our front office. You can visit the website http://www.gocampbellriver.com/cruise-ship-schedule to see photos of the ships, webcams and other marine traffic information.
The Passage View Motel is centrally located. We are a short walk away from the Fisherman’s Wharf, the Campbell River Public Fishing Pier, the Pier Street Farmer’s Market (Sundays), the Maritime Museum, as well as many unique shops and restaurants. We are close to the outdoor public swimming pool and children’s park. Across the street from the motel is the Campbell River Museum, rated as one of the top 10 museums in Canada by Trip Advisor’s Traveller’s Choice Award 2014! Campbell River’s regional, human history museum ranks with the biggest and the best across Canada.
Campbell River is the Salmon Fishing Capital of the world. Fish year round in this West Coast paradise. Our staff is ready to connect you with fishing guides or to assist you by pointing you in the right direction to fishing spots and tackle shops.
